Three More Kid-Friendly Places To Eat

June 02, 2009

I've been noticing spaces everywhere I go.  When I wait in a restaurant, I wonder what my kids would do.  Some places are obviously out of the question, but every so often, I think "this would be a great spot to take my whole family."  Below are three places I plan to kid-test this summer.

1.  The Alcove - on Hillhurst Ave. in Los Feliz, the Alcove is a great place for people watching.  Order your meal at the counter and explore the patio and funky furnishings while you wait for a server to bring your food.  Pastries and cakes galore for dessert.  Also?  They have a "chocolate" section on their website.  *Swoon*

The Counter - think of the running the kids can do!

2.  The Counter - build your own burger on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City.  Wide, spacious restaurant area, room for kids to be fidgety, typical kids' menu but they also serve mini burgers too.

3.  Coral Tree Cafe - Ventura Blvd. in Encino.  Another big space with tables outside as well.  Menu includes alcholic beverages for the grownups, and a new kids' menu, too.  Beware:  even though this is the valley, parking in front is valet only.  Whatev.

If, for some reason, you are traveling with young children and your car breaks down on the 405 and the mechanic says it will take three days to fix it, here are some things you can do to kill the time. They might be educational. They might be enriching. They might even be fun! (But you'll probably have to rent another car.) Day 1  Read more...
