The Littlest Yogi: Parent and Me Yoga Class

July 31, 2008

My favorite form of exercise besides walking has been yoga.  It's difficult for me to get to a yoga class these days, and let's face it - the DVD's aren't standing there making sure you do the poses right, so cheating is rampant when using one of those.

Now there's a perfect marriage of childcare and yoga - Lisa Helfer's Parent and Child Yoga class for parents with children aged 3-6.  I know my 3-year-old like yoga:  any time I attempt a sun salutation, he shouts "again, Mommy!" and tries to imitate me.  Also, he loves pretending that my yoga mat is a boat.

Parent and Child Yoga is a 5-week Saturday morning series at The Baby Clubhouse on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, three blocks south of Ventura.  The space is also home to a ballet class for toddlers as well as RIE parenting classes for parents and newborns.

Yoga classes are forming now, call 818-481-2580 to sign up.  You'll want to get in on this one.  Not only is yoga good for you, it's good for your kid.
